Vick returns to Atlanta

Michael Vick's return to Atlanta was met with a mixed response. When Mike stepped onto the field for his first play back in the Georgia Dome the crowd went crazy. The stadium was roaring with both cheers and boo's. There were plenty of Vick jerseys, some in green and others in the red and black, all with the famous number seven.

Vick's victorious visit could not have been timed better than to play against a Falcons team without his predecessor Matt Ryan or their star running back Michael Turner. While the Atlanta defense struggled to carry an extremely battered offense, Vick made his first touchdown since 2006 with a 5 yard rush into the end zone and his second with 5 yard TD pass to Eagles tight end Brent Celek.

Michael Vick stated that his return was very meaningful for him and the bus ride into the city brought tears to his eyes. Groups of protesters outside the dome were chanting, "we love Michael Vick!," while opposite animal rights activists protesting the fact that, "they have not forgotten what he did."

Of course a man like Mike Vick, who used to be the face of the Atlanta Falcons and the hero of a city, was met with a very emotional reaction during his return. Vick says he felt good during the game and his performance coincided with that. He showed he NFL and the city of Atlanta that he still has what it takes to be a formidable player in the National Football League. The closure of the Mike Vick situation has finally come for him and for the fans of the Atlanta Falcons. One chapter closed and another open: Vick is gone, Ryan is here.
